Our custom carding shop occupies 2,000 sq. ft. of space.  In addition to our dehairer, drafters and spinners, we have two Mini-Mills Ltd Carders and a picker.  Each has been designed and set up to best process certain types and quantities of fiber.  All orders are separately processed to insure return of your animals fiber.  If you have fiber to process send us some and see if you don't agree with our other customers who keep coming back to Fantasy Fibers for their processing needs. Have your fibers processed into roving or batts. Create your own special blend or get one of ours. From ounces to pounds your animal's fiber is treated as though it were our own.

Carding loosens and aligns fibers for spinning or other types of processing.   In hand carding, the fibers are placed between two boards covered with leather, through which protrude fine wire hooks(carding cloth) that catch the fibers as one board is pulled gently across the other.  Machine carding uses multiple drums (as seen in the photo above) wrapped with carding cloth and produces batts or a continuous thick untwisted strand of fibers called a sliver or roving.  Roving helps to make spinning an easier task.(1)

Note how the fibers are becoming better organized for the next processing step.
